One word, one action, one thought

The source of love is deep in us and we can help others realize a lot of happiness. One word, one action, one thought can reduce another person’s suffering and bring that person joy.

Thích Nhất Hạnh – Zen Buddhist master

We overcomplicate some things.

With our best intentions, we may seek ways to bring happiness to ourselves and others.

Looking more deeply, though, we can come to realize that happiness doesn’t come from more things, more experiences, or more entanglements.

Try this.

Sit still for a short time. Feel into what has brought you happiness. Think back to any moment when someone offered you one word or did one small thing that touched you in some way.

Then, feel into what might bring a little happiness to someone you see suffering. Even though you might not have an “aha!” solution, take comfort that you’re heading in the direction of helping others.
