Not Only For Ears – QTIP means Quit Taking It Personally

It’s not about you!

Truly!

As people look at you, they are seeing things through their own eyes. Their perspective is shaded by their history, their biases, and frankly, whatever else they are thinking about (besides you!)

If this is the first time you’re hearing this message, then I’m sorry if you feel defensive about this truth.

If, on the other hand, you hear “Quit Taking It Personally” and celebrate, then it’s probably because you already know this to be truth, and know how it liberated you once you learned it.

This doesn’t mean we’re to ignore other people’s perspectives about us and our lives. Each view is valuable, and taken together can form a very useful and powerful mosaic.

“Quit Taking It Personally” means not being defensive when others offer their perspective.

QTIP = Quit Taking It Personally – to keep your ears open to others truth without taking each of their words as “truth” nor getting defensive when their viewpoint is different than what we expect or believe.

  1. Byron Katie’s work is impressively effective at helping us unravel the pain and obstacles caused by our projected judgments. So helpful 🙂

  2. Thanks for your comment.
